Babylon VS. Assyria - A story by Sasha Morgun

Babylon VS. Assyria
Once upon a time it was a bright and sunny day in the farm lands of Babylon. There was a boy named Shasta. He lived with his shepherd father. One day his father said, “I am going to the market to sell some sheep wool, you be good.” So Shasta went to his friend’s house.  Mean-while, at the country of Assyria the very cruel king of Assyria, Gilgamesh, thought to himself.  He said Assyria is too small.” So he told his general ,Get all my men together and get them ready to attack Babylon.”
At Babylon Shasta went to go for a swim in the Tigris River, which is in the land of Assyria. He did not go to his river because it was super cold. But when he was in the water of the Tigris River he heard thumping. So he bolted in the water and hid in some rocks. When he didn’t hear it any more, he looked up. He saw the Assyrian army marching to Babylon. So he got up and ran to the king of Babylon, the great Hammurabi. He got past the Assyrians and told Hammurabi what he saw and Hammurabi said,”  war is coming and because you told me I am going to make you commander”.
 Above are the Assyrians
The next day, after Shasta became commander, he said to the army of Babylon,” Do not fear the savage Assyrians. We are strong and they are weak if we all fight hard for Babylon and Hammurabi we will drive them to the sticks .” Then Hammurabi came and said, I will fight with you to in the battle.
Meanwhile, while the soldiers were getting ready for battle Shasta and Hammurabi were planning what they were be going to do and at the end they knew what they were going to do. They will wait in the forest to make an ambush because the Assyrians have to go through the forest to get to Babylon. So Shasta Hammurabi and the army of Babylon waited in the forest to attack the Assyrians.           Above    are    The Babylonians
Meanwhile, the Assyrians were tired of walking and marching and some on the way died of working too hard. But the king of Assyria ,Gilgamesh kept saying, “you sissies cant you take some manual labour?” And the soldiers will kept moving. The Assyrians were at the edge of the forest,  and then they went in.

But when the Assyrians got to the middle of the forest the Babylonians jumped out and attacked. As soon as the Assyrians knew what was happening they fought back. The battle was vicious and in the heat of the battle Shasta got knocked off  his horse and was knocked out. At the same time Hammurabi and Gilgamesh faced of. Then Shasta got up and saw Gilgamesh was going to kill Hammurabi so he got up and stabbed Gilgamesh. When the Assyrians saw their king was dead they ran away and the Babylonians lived happily ever after.

The end!

Egypt was strong empire but these times did not last. Pharaohs kept getting weaker and weaker it seemed Egypt would fall apart. But then a new king came to Egypt's throne at about 1991bc/bce his name was Amenemhet. He was determined to make Egypt strong again. So he looked south to the african kingdom of Nubia. Nubia was very rich and has many gold mines so it was a prize for egypt. So Egypt invaded Nubia after many battles Egypt had beaten Nubia. King Hammurabi

Its me Sasha again and today we are going to learn about the Babylonians and king Hammurabi.
Mesopotamia was not a safe place to live city states kept fighting each other . One of the most
powerful city states is called Babylon .Around 1792BC/BCE a Babylonian king named Hammurabi ruled only a small bit of land around Babylon. But then he started to conquer all the small cites around him.He convinced other kings to swear allegiance to him .He didn't want people to listen to him just because his army was strong. He wanted  his empire to be governed by just laws. Here are some examples of his laws:

1.If a doctor operates on a patient and the patient dies the doctor gets his hand cut off.

2.If a builder builds a house and it collapses and kills the owner the builder will be put to death.

Hammurabi was very religious man, he believed  that the gods themselves gave him the code of Hammurabi.
