The The third Crusade
The third crusade started when the king of England Richard the Lionhearted wanted to get Jerusalem back from Saladin. Richard the lionhearted was tall, golden haired, and strong. And he wanted Jerusalem back. When he became king he started to sell his stuff for money to make a army to go into the holy land. He even declared, i will sell London if i have to get money for my army. When he had a large enough army to attack the holy land. At first he had two allies the duke of Austria and the king of France. At first Richard insulted the king of France so he left. Then the duke of Austria put his banner next to Richard so Richard told him to put his banner away and the Austrian duke said no so Richard through the banner in the mud. The Austrian duke left. When Richard got in the holy land he lost and went home. But the Austrian duke captured him and locked him up. Then Richard got away and that is the third Crusade. Richard died when he was hit by a arrow at a attack on a french castle.

The Second Crusade
After the first Crusade the European powers had finally conquered the Middle East. But at the cost of thousands of soldiers. Then a man named Saladin wanted to retake his homeland. So he and the Saracens organized into a army and attacked a little crusader kingdom near Jerusalem called Edessa and conquered it. Then when England and France herd about the revolt they got there knights together to attack the kingdom. It failed and the knights came home. After that Saladin prepared for a greater attack on Jerusalem. He got more and more men on his side to prepare for war. Then he had the numbers to retake Jerusalem. As his troops approached Jerusalem the knights in the city grew worried. what should they do go out to meet them or stay inside they decided to go out to attack the Saracens. It was a big mistake the knights were so hot they couldn't fight and were defeated and Saladin conquered the Middle East. and that is the Second Crusade.

The Age of the Crusades part 1
This post is on the first Crusade. You are probably wondering what the Crusades were? The Crusades began in 1095 when the pope commanded (because the Muslim wouldn't let European pilgrims go to Jerusalem) that the knights in England, France, Holy Roman Empire, Spain, etc, to capture Jerusalem. But when the Knights were geting ready to fight, a man named Peter the Hermit was saying that peasants could fight so before the knights attacked a whole bunch of peasants attacked the Holy Land. It was a disaster. Many peasants died on the way and the some that made it there were killed by Muslim warriors. When the knights actually did attack it was harder then they thought. The Muslims kept ambushing them and poisoned the wells. When they finally did conquer Jerusalem they were so mad they killed every Muslim in sight.
It was wrong that the Crusaders massacred the Muslims in Jerusalem. But it was wrong that the the Muslims didn't let Christian pilgrims in their land. I think the Crusaders were a bunch of silly wars. It was a dumb reason to fight.
And that was the first Crusade.

The Battle of Hastings
After Alfred died, the kings of the Saxons kept fighting off the viking's invasions. Finally, in a country called Normandy ( across the English channel ), was a duke named William. He married a Saxon princess and wanted to be king of England. But a man named Harold had just become the king of England. So William told Harold to let him be king of England, and Harold said no. So William gathered his army and prepared them for invasion. He put them on boats and started to sail across the English channel. Harold also got his army, but when he got to the hill at Hastings were the battle would be, his men were super tired, unlike William's men. When the battle started the battle seemed to fail, even though Harold's men were tired. William got knocked off his horse! Then the Normans said, "The king is dead, the king is dead!" But then William got up, and the battle continued. Harold got hit in the eye with an arrow, and died. William then won the battle and was renamed William the conquerer, the only king that had conquered England.

Alfred the great
Hello its me Sasha again i havent had the time to write on my blog for a long time so i skipped some time in history. So now i am talking about the first Saxon kings of England and of the best of them all Alfred the great. In the early times of England the land had one people on it the Saxons. In those days the Saxons did'nt have a very strong army and had no king so England was very weak. That was not good because a weak country attracts enemies and thats just what happened.A people called the vikings saw that England was weak and attacked it the Saxons were not as strong as the Vikings and the Vikings took the northern part of England. But the Saxons were not all defeated only the northern part was conquered not the south. The Viking king Guthrom wanted the south so he was getting his army ready for war. Then a Saxon noble man named Alfred told his people that he will beat the Vikings if he was king. So his people made him king. Then he made his army way better and defeated the Vikings and drove them right back to Scandinavia.
